Regardless of how slow the economy is there are still jobs up for grabs. It's just harder to find them. Job fairs and open interviews, however, greatly simplify that search since only hiring companies make the effort to attend or even host those. Job seekers should attend at least one job fair or open interview per week if possible, and here is why:- It's easier to make a great first impression in person than with a generic online application.
- Meet the hiring manager without being screened by a secretary.
- Disabled individuals have a better opportunity to show and tell how they can get the job done.
- Perfect timing improves the odds of landing a job since job seekers will be in the right place at the right time.
Of course, there will be plenty of other people competing for the hiring manager's attention. Just keep a positive attitude-- by showing up you are already way ahead of the pack of people who stayed at home!
