Jerel Hunter lands full-time job with help from DSB Employment Specialist Franklin Smith

Jerel Hunter with Employment Specialist Franklin Smith
Jerel Hunter's one-year-long job search was fueled by his desire to move from Thomasville, Ga. to Plant City, Fla. And once the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) referred him to the employment network, Deaf Service Bureau, in October 2011 it only took him four month to land a well-paid job with free benefits.
"I encouraged him (Hunter) to do walk-in applications at local business whenever he was visiting his friends in Plant City," said DSB Employment Specialist Franklin Smith. "It's the fastest way to get a job because the job seeker can use his personality in addition to impressing with a solid resume."
Hunter started working full-time as auto detailer at Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City in January 2012 and has not looked back since. He stated that he is very happy with the support services he received from DSB, including Smith's communication with the hiring manager during the interview and training process, as well as the interpreter provided by DSB.
All is certainly well that ends well, and Smith also credits Hunter's manager, Izic, with a very helpful and non-discriminating attitude.
Hunter can now enjoy financial independence, excellent health insurance provided by his employer, and last but certainly not least, a sense of self-worth that one can only gain from being a productive member of society.
